Nicomekl Moment One is the first painting in a triptych that endeavours to honour the historicity of old dock posts that were used to provide anchorage for boats along the river. These embedded posts remain and are scattered throughout the tributaries of the Fraser River Estuary. They stand like centurions not only to remind us of the past, but to stand guard to their story and their meaning. Like legendary ancestors, they invite us to accept time that was before us and time that will be after us. In so doing, their story is timeless. And as they mark our place here, they also invite us away from the edges to which we cling and into an ethereal realm that is as limitless as the sky.
The original triptych entitled Nicomekl Moments: A Way from the Edge, is available for sale: $1500.00 framed (plus S&H).
