The lovely walks along the sunny sandy beaches and the adventurous boat rides through the cavernous shorelines of The Algarve while collecting shells and stones in August of 2017 provided so much breathtaking peace. And then lusciously chewing on figs and licking our lips on large olives while sipping rich tawny Port allowed us the space to drench our vision into the fields of soft lavender and the naked old cork trees scattered throughout the rolling hills of the south; and to feast our eyes on the lovely blue-violet tiles that decorate the churches, train stations, and every public place throughout Portugal; all with the country's mascot rooster calling us to such things.
It's not often I do a still life in my work, but with all the wild and chaotic realities that are presently hitting our lives these days, I feel a need to be "artistically active in a still life". This almost sounds absurd, yet I hope you can join me in this perspective.
